Who else has tried to do couples photos for themselves, gotten in front of the camera and then thought “now what?”? Haha! I have done our photos a few times, but I never had a remote before! The running back and forth was just enough time to make us laugh and go in for a quick kiss – but just sitting there…awkwardly wondering when you should press the button – how are you supposed to get a real moment that way? So…I pressed the button and tickled him. It may not be the most attractive shot. We have bed head and look wore out from a long weekend, but look at that scrunchy “can’t contain myself” expression! I’ve noticed he makes the same expression when he laughs at his own jokes – which is a lot! And even though I roll my eyes – I smile at how adorable he is.
I initially wanted to do the photo in the morning, but it ended up being in the afternoon, after Bran’s nap (he loves naps). I stayed up to clean up the house because we had just finished our floors. I asked him what time he wanted to sleep till and I showed up around just that time to set up my tripod and tell him to get out of bed, so we could take pictures – Just what every guy wants to hear, right? He complained, but he didn’t say no. He doesn’t often say “no”. We can talk through most anything and come to an agreement, even if that means wanting to throw one another out of the window in the process. He levels me. He brings my stubbornness to a halt and he puts things into perspective when I can’t seem to grasp my own thoughts. Cheesy, I know, but he completes me.
He does this thing where he is in like the worst mood ever and won’t express himself (usually he’s just hangry) – which begins to put me in a mood, and then once I’m in a full swing mood he’s like “What’s wrong with you???”. He also sucks his teeth, chews really loud and almost always says his opinion like it’s fact. (Grrr) But I think if those are the WORST things I can think of in someone, then they’re pretty “almost” perfect. Almost, because nobody is perfect, but they can be perfect for you.
He teaches the kids things that I don’t even stop to teach them. I know it’s because it’s usually just me and I’m mostly always in a hurry – but when he’s here, it’s so easy for him to forget about being late and sit down to help the kids put their shoes on, instead of just doing it for them. He also teaches me, that it’s okay to slow down sometimes and be late – because there are more important things. He never answers the kids with “because” – which if you’re a parent, you know is SO easy to do. He explains it all. He helps their little minds grow and I, a lot of the time, just watch him in awe.
He’s such an amazing man who is so easy to love. I have never in my life met someone – friend, significant other, family – that I can find such a balance with. I can be myself but still get shy – because he just does that to me. Whatever one of us lacks, the other picks up. We try really, really hard to understand each other – which can be very difficult when you’re both so stubborn.
It all started over a cup of coffee and conversation, when we both needed it most, and the rest just fell into place, regardless of our hesitation. You can love someone with what feels like your whole being, but if you’re not in it together, you might as well be standing alone. I, for the first time in my life, understand and feel what it means to actually be “in” love with someone.
There is still time to tell a little bit about your love for that someone special, for a chance to get in front of the camera! Click here to leave a comment with your Love Story! <3
